From Hajime no Ippo to Yuri!! On Ice, MAPPA has an impressive lineup when it comes to sports anime. The upcoming water polo anime project will no doubt be another excellent series with the studio’s twist on it.
MAPPA is producing a new water polo anime this year titled RE-MAIN. The anime will have an original story and is scheduled to premiere within this year. A new visual has also been released for the upcoming anime.

The visual features Minato Uemura, the protagonist of the anime. Minato used to compete in water polo, but he stopped playing from the third year of middle school.
The anime will show the journey of how he built a new team, and was slowly but steadily able to build the confidence to play again.

About RE-MAIN
RE-MAIN is an original anime by MAPPA studio, and it will premiere in 2021.
Minato Kiyomizu, the protagonist of the story, had to leave competitive water polo in his middle school’s third year due to a traumatic incident. When he enters high school, he starts playing again while building up his own team.
