Top 5 Most Joyful Anime Villains

A list of the five most content antagonists in anime.

Nui Harime (Kill La Kill)

Nui Harime (Kill La Kill)

Despite being the most depraved antagonist in Kill La Kill, Nui Harime maintained an upbeat demeanor. Even while she was killing Ryuko’s father or mocking her for it, she couldn’t keep a straight face. Nui’s character was especially frustrating because she let very little affect her mood.

Ryuko had to go through a long process of self-discovery before she could strike back effectively, and even then she was unable to exact justice for her father. Nui, who gave her life at Ragyo’s behest, had the last laugh when she prevented the heroes from exacting their revenge.

Kenny Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

Kenny Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

Because of his unconventional outlook on life, Kenny Ackerman (arguably) is the happiest person in Attack on Titan. He treated the Military Police as a hobby and did not take most things seriously. Kenny argued that the key to finding happiness was to pursue one’s true passions.

For him, this meant going into battle, particularly if doing so would improve his long-term chances. In the end, Kenny was rarely irritable, and the one time he lost his temper was when he learned that Rod Reiss had lied to him in order to keep him safe.

The Major (Hellsing)

The Major (Hellsing)

The Major may be Hellsing’s most heinous and merciless antagonist, but he enjoys every minute of it. His Millennium Organization never considered the destruction of London to be a top goal. He set out to kill and destroy as many people as possible, regardless of their identities.

The Major never lost his optimistic outlook, even as Alucard and Integra gradually uncovered his schemes. Since he didn’t care about dying, not even the heroes’ breach of the zeppelin could remove the rictus from his face. After all, the robot that now represents him was first constructed long ago.

Pegasus (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Pegasus (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Pegasus, the hedonist who dreamed up Yu-Gi-Oh’s Duel Monsters, was the game’s original designer. He preferred lighthearted entertainment to serious issues, which explains his fixation on cartoon monsters.

Pegasus was aware of the danger Yugi and Kaiba posed to his schemes, but he never let it get to him. He believed so strongly in his creation and his own powers that the only time he displayed symptoms of distress was when Yugi discovered a way to bypass his Millennium Eye.

Spec (Baki)

Spec (Baki)

Among Baki’s freed inmates, Spec was the most troubled. Inhuman and terrible, he was capable of withstanding shocking cruelty in pursuit of his ultimate goal: to experience defeat. Spec saw his imprisonment and Hanayama’s beatings as opportunities to strike back with greater impunity.

Spec’s preferred method of relieving boredom was to engage in both violent and destructive acts. Some examples of this behavior include following Baki and Kozue, fighting police officers, and even shattering the Statue of Liberty in New York.
