TYPE-MOON’s Melty Blood Remake Introduces Saber as Playable Character
Melty Blood: Type Lumina 2D is now available, and as you would expect from a TYPE-MOON game, there’s always a Fate twist.
It is a 2D fighting game based on TYPE-MOON’s Tsukihime games and is part of the Tsukihime Remake series. Initially, it was supposed to be a straight-up remake of the original Melty Blood game, but we all know how TYPE-MOON can get carried away.
The game now is original but still loosely follows the original Tsukihime story. The story takes place ten days before the events of Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon.
It has an initial lineup of 14 characters, one of which you might recognize.
Fate/stay night’s Saber/ Artoria Pendragon will be one of the playable characters in TYPE-MOON’s Melty Blood: Type Lumina 2D game.
In the preview/announcement video, we can see Saber fighting Arcueid Brunestud. Her initial moveset looks pretty good with her ultimate attack, of course being Excalibur.
The version of Arcueid featured in the video is known as Red Arcueid, which is based on the design from the original 2000 visual novel.
The game is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It can be played in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
If you are a fan of any of Fate’s anime adaptations, you’ll have a field day with this one because Kinoko Nasu is the writer and director for the game. On top of that, ufotable is animating the opening sequence.
