Upcoming Hakuoki OVA’s New PV Introduces Villain Love Interest for Chizuru
Hakuoki is one of the most beloved otome franchises ever. It seems like ever since its release, we get it in some form or another, be it a spinoff game, an anime, movie, or OVA, like this time around.
The OVA’s story, like the original game, revolves around Chizuru, who travels with the Shinsengumi in order to search for her father. She gets caught up in a conflict with Bakumatsu, who somehow is related to her father.
The official website for Otamate’s gaming franchise Hakuoki has released a promotional video for the upcoming original video animation.
The PV begins in a moonlight Kyoto where we see glimpses of Chizuru and the rest of the Shinsengumi. Then Kazama Chikage, a member of Bakumatsu, the enemies of Shinsengumi, seems to casually confront the group head-on.
The OVA will have three episodes which will be exclusively available on U-NEXT on November 13, 2021, December 11, 2021, and January 29, 2022, respectively. The Blu-ray and DVD versions will ship from December 24, 2021, January 28, 2022, and February 25, 2022.
A key visual for the OVA has also been revealed.
The visual shows Chizuru at the centre, with other key members of the Shinsengumi: Hajime, Souji, Heisuke, Sanosuke, and Toshizou. These are the five out of six potential love interests for Chizuru in the original otome game.
The OVA will be produced by Studio DEEN with the following staff:

Intriguing New Character Announced for Hakuōki Otome Game’s Upcoming OVA
Although this original story introduces a new character into the franchise, we don’t know if he will be the main love interest in the story. Hopefully not, as we all know Toshizo is the best husbando.

Hakuoki is a Japanese otome video game series by Idea Factory, released for the PlayStation 2 and ported to many other platforms. The series has been adapted as two different manga series and 3 anime seasons.
Chizuru Yukimura heads to Kyoto to search for her father, finding herself attacked by madmen before they are cut down by members of the Shinsengumi who mistake her for a boy and take her into custody.
Upon learning that she is a girl and the daughter of a doctor who developed the Water of Life, the Shinsengumi decide to keep her as an aide in their search.
However, as time passes, Chizuru and Shinsengumi confront a mysterious faction who call themselves Oni and that Chizuru is also an Oni.
