Upcoming Police in a Pod Anime Set to Revive the Police Comedy Genre!
Only a few things are more exciting to see than an award-winning manga come to life. More so when it is a story like Police in a Pod, which revives a somewhat forgotten concept in anime.
There has been a lack of comedy police stories in anime lately. The concept is quite popular in western media right now but it is rather rare to see something similar in anime. The last popular series that embodied the concept was KochiKame, which was a long time ago.
Although there are a lot of police stories that have a more serious vein, like Psycho Pass, they are often contrived of any comedy or realism, but not anymore.
Police in a Pod (Hakozume: Koban Joshi no Gyakushuu) manga is getting an anime adaptation. Details about the studio or the release date haven’t been revealed yet.
The news comes as a surprise as the live-action adaptation of the manga hasn’t even begun airing yet. This is one of those rare cases where a manga gets a live-action adaptation before an anime, just like Kodoku no Gourmet.
The Police in a Pod manga had won the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category earlier this year. It was also nominated for the 45th Kodansha Manga Award.
The story follows a rookie police officer who stops herself from quitting the forceshe gets to know the recently disgraced former detective. It is a realistic slice of life story which discovers the adventures of the pair, solving various cases with a bit of unexpected romance.
