‘Urusei Yatsura’ to Make us Groove With Catchy Theme Songs
Long before Inuyasha came out and became one of the best shonen anime ever, its creator Rumiko Takahashi was known for Urusei Yatsura. The name might not be that popular now, but its fanbase is still going strong and creating the hype for its remake.
Since it’s a remake and we’ll be seeing the beloved vintage in a whole new avatar, the franchise decided to give it some new tracks with the same vibe.
Urusei Yatsura anime’s latest trailer previews the opening and ending theme songs by the musical unit MAISONdes.
The opening theme is titled ‘AIUE’ (A-B-C-D), featuring Minami and SAKURAmoti, and the ending score is ‘Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous,’ which features Kaf and Tsumiki.
While the opening song is fast and catchy with a fun vibe, the ending theme is a bit more on the modern pop side. With such fantastic scores in hand, the anime is set for its consecutive two-cour debut on October 13, 2022.
The first two cours will run continuously for half a year without breaks, and the 3rd and 4th cour will premiere later.
As you can see, the theme songs are previewed with a brand new promo video that shows the alien race Oni’s arrival on Earth. The video moves on to Lum invading Ataru’s life and creating trouble for him.
We also get to see various instances of Lum getting jealous of Ataru and the latter encountering friends of the alien princess. Even though Ataru is constantly annoyed by Lum, he still gets concerned about her and saves her on various occasions.
‘Urusei Yatsura’ Season 1 to have a Half-Year Run with No Breaks
Despite having four cours in total, the anime will only adapt and remake selected arcs from the original. You might not get to see all of your favorites with better animation, but you’ll definitely get to see the most iconic ones.
I guess Lum must be preparing for her invasion right about now. Considering how close the premiere is, Ataru has just a few more peaceful days left before chaos strikes.
