Viz Media Shares New Visual for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
Yhwach has finally woken up from his millennium-long slumber and has brought the Thousand-Year Blood War to take over the world. The only one standing in his way? Bleach’s best substitute shinigami, Ichigo Kurosaki.
Before this arc, the Quincy King and his sealing were nothing more than an old wives’ tale. That belief was held true until Yhwach woke up after gaining strength by killing the half-Quincy or Gemischt.
Now that he’s back, Bleach’s peaceful days are over, and Ichigo must once again fight to protect the ones he loves, but not without help, of course.
Viz Media has shared a new key visual for the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime featuring Ichigo and his friends.
Drenched in a menacing vibe, the visual shows Ichigo in the center with Rukia, Orihime, Chad, and Renji surrounding him. In the background, we see Uryu in Yhwach’s shadow, looking back at others.
The visual focuses on the recurring characters and the arc’s main antagonist. Also, to elevate the gravity of how gruesome this arc is, the graphic’s aesthetic is red and black, signifying blood and darkness.
Since new arcs mean new characters, the franchise has also shared more cast that will be joining the team:
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Ryūnosuke Yuki | Daiki Yamashita | Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia) |
Shino Madarame | Asami Seto | Ichiyō Higuchi (Bungo Stray Dogs) |
Äs Nödt | Yoshitsugu Matsuoka | Inosuke Hashibira (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) |
Quilge Opie | Kōichi Yamadera | Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop) |
BG9 | Hideyuki Tanaka | Donquixote Doflamingo (One Piece) |
Robert Accutrone | Takaya Hashi | Gazel Dwargo (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) |
Driscoll Berci | Nobuaki Kanemitsu | Norimune Kurosu (Haikyu!!) |
Mask De Masculine | Yasuhiro Mamiya | Kyohō Fuefuki (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) |
NaNaNa Najahkoop | Tomoaki Maeno | Konro Sagamiya (Fire Force) |

The visual has excited fans for the upcoming arc that premieres in October.
Since there’s not much time left for the release, I suggest we all rewatch previous episodes and brush up on some details we might have missed.
About Bleach
Bleach is a Japanese anime television series based on Tite Kubo’s manga of the same name. The anime series adapts Kubo’s manga but also introduces some new, original, self-contained story arcs.
It is based in Karakura Town on a 15-year-old high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who becomes a substitute Soul Reaper when Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, puts Soul Reaper powers in Ichigo. They barely manage to kill the hollow.
Although initially reluctant to accept the heavy responsibility, he begins eliminating some more hollows and also discovers that several of his friends and classmates are spiritually aware and have powers of their own.
