Weekly Shonen Magazine to Publish Romcom Oneshots in Upcoming Issue 36-37
Shonen magazines and romcoms might be an odd match, but the Weekly Shonen Magazine has decided to stand out here. While some might frown upon it, we absolutely love such changes once in a while.
However, here’s why many of you might not like it. Shonen is a more action-based genre, while romcoms come in the shoujo category. But after hearing the artists involved, I am pretty sure a lot of you are gonna have an opinion change.
Weekly Shonen Magazine announced that it would be publishing a few romcom one-shots in its upcoming merged Issue 36-37, that will be released on August 10th.
Five amazing artists will be working on the one-shots. All of them are renowned for some popular romance and ecchi manga. And as always, we have them all right here!
Writer/ Author | Other Works |
TiV | Masamune-kun no Revenge |
Igarashi Masakuni | Senryu Girl |
Riri Sagara | Are You Lost? |
Kumaru Sanka | Several Stories About My Girlfriend’s Cuteness |
Yakitomato | Ikken Cool dakedo Futsuu Kawaii Shinoda-san |
TIV’s Masamune-kun no Revenge got popular both as a manga and an anime due to its unique storyline. Instead of having the typical rom-com plot, TiV added some extra elements that made us fall in love with it.
The protagonist, Masamune, comes back after a significant glow-up to get revenge on the person who rejected and insulted him years ago. However, will his feelings become a hindrance to his plans?
Meanwhile, Are You Lost? by Sagara is a survival story. Four high-school girls get stranded on an island after their plane crashes, and now they have to keep themselves alive.
The question is, how far will they go to protect themselves? As far as betraying each other? Or will this act as an incident to bring them closer?
Senryu Girl by Igarashi Masakuni has got to be one of the sweetest love stories you will ever come across. The protagonists of the story bond over the art of senryu, a Japanese form of poetry.
Nanako Yukishiro only communicates through senryu, and the ex-delinquent Eiji Busujima recently got into the art. So now the two communicate through poetry, and that is by far the most adorable and romantic thing I’ve ever read!
