It has always been Shin’s dream to be a Great General under the heavens. And now that our protagonist is a General with 10000 men under him, we are taking a look at all the major events in his life.

What led to Shin being such a great man in such a small amount of time? Let us take a look.

We must remember, Kingdom is a story set in the Warring States period of China. Back then, the nation was divided into Qin, Zhao, Chu, Wei, Yan, and Qi.

They constantly fought against each other, trying to establish some dominance. And out of these states, came Li Xin and Yang Zheng.

General Shin

Emperor Yang Zheng, or Ei Sei, was the first man to unify all of China, according to the Shi Ji historian at least. And Xin was the sword of Emperor Sei.

It took a long time and a lot of battles to accomplish something as gargantuan as unifying China, something which was considered impossible at the time.

Since the fourth season of the anime just ended, we expect Kingdom Season 5 to be announced very soon.

Shin’s Early Life:

Both as just Xin, our protagonist was just an orphan. All he had in his life was his friend Piao. Together, they dreamt of becoming generals. One day, Piao became body double to Crown Prince Sei and later, laid down his life in the task.

This led to the meeting of Sei and Xin, where the latter became the sword of the former.

During the Sei Kyou Rebellion, Shin played a key part in taking down the opposition. Alongside allies like Karyo Ten, Shoubunkun, and Heki, Shin went after Sei and saved him in the nick of time. With the help of the mountain tribe, Sei was saved and Shin earned his trust. And thus began his warrior life.

Shin distinguished himself in his first campaign against Wei. He was a mere foot soldier during that war and his relatively weak group performed exceedingly well. By the end, Shin had claimed the head of Kyuu Gen, a strong opponent. And thus, he got promoted to a 100-man commander!

He then went on to foil an assassination on Ei Sei’s life. And then, he went to train under Great General Ou Ki. He learned the value of unity and the challenges of leadership here. Shin then went on to form his 100-man group – his battle in Bayou began.

This was a critical battle, where the Hi Shin Unit was named by Ou Ki himself. Shin’s unit was extremely effective in this war. Shin killed Gi Ka in this war and saw the death of Ou Ki. With his dying breath, the Great General had passed on his glaive to Shin.

Shin finally becomes famous:

Next came the war against Wei, where Shin participated as a 300-man commander. Ei Sei also tasks Shin with becoming a general in the span of a mere 5 years. Ei Sei was fighting a very uphill battle and he needed Shin to step up his game as well. This was also the point where his rivalry with Mou Ten and Ou Hon began.

Next came the Sanyou campaign, where he fought under General Mou Gou. Here, Shin attacked 1000-man commander Ran Dou. In this war, Shin is promoted to a 1000-man commander. However, he must either bring back the head of 3 enemies 1000 men commanders or 1 general. Failing this task will lead to him being demoted to a 5 man commander.

The war is long and hard. But in the end, Shin manages to kill Rin Ko, one of the 4 opponent generals. Rin Ko was Renpa’s flying spear and a member of the 4 heavenly kings.

He briefly clashed with Great General Renpa and learned the true weight of the men carrying such titles. Shin was rewarded by Ei Sei for his outstanding achievements in the war.

Next came the Coalition Invasion war. He fought hard and defeated General Man Goku in this war. Later, he also survived Riboku’s encirclement, which killed Duke Hyou. Shin inherited Duke Hyou’s shield after this.

But that was not the end. Shin helped Sei defend the City of Sai from Riboku. It was the toughest battle he had faced. And then he clashed and injured Hou Ken. His hatred for the former was immense since he wanted to avenge Ou Ki.

He was handsomely rewarded for his immense contributions. Alongside a lot of rewards, Shin officially became a 3000-man commander.

Way to General

In the following years, Shin defended the capital when Sei became emperor. He also protected Sei’s daughter as well. He then went to fight the Fire Dragons of Wei after being specifically requested by General Tou.

In this war, he developed a strong rivalry with Gai Mou and had to overcome the barrier. However, their battle couldn’t come to an end. Still, Shin ended up killing Rei Ou and he barely missed Go Hou Mei. He is later promoted to a 5000-man commander. Since Kyou Kai became a 3000-man commander, Shin essentially had 8000 men under him.

Shin then participated in the Koku You Campaign and then came the infamous Zhao campaign. Initially, in this campaign, Shin struggles a lot. But in the end, he managed to slay Gaku Ei and Chou Ga Ryuu. Finally, his unit began to move ahead.

This is when he finally met Hou Ken. After a long and hard battle, Shin managed to kill Hou Ken, fulfilling his revenge finally. Although, this took a toll on him and he would have died if not for Kyou Kai sacrificing herself for him. 5 months later, Shin is finally promoted to the rank of General!

Shin Becomes A General

After becoming a General in Chapter 642, Shin finally got to a position where his actions will finally make an impact on the battlefield. He headed for Gyou, where the Zhao invasion will continue. But the opposition had Riboku. Due to that man alone, Zhao’s defenses turned out impeccable.

And thus, Ou Sen made the plan for the Gian battle. Zhao’s retaliation was hard and the battle of Gian turned out especially hard with both Ou Hon and Mou Ten facing extreme difficulties too. And that brings us to the present, where Shin has finally taken the Gian castle and is waiting for backup.

Right now, Shin aims to become someone that is beyond a General, that is, a Great general. And with the 6 heavenly generals system reinstated, Shin has a shot at filling the final spot.

If he can prove himself capable, Shin will become the 6th Great General of the new generation. Will he manage to do it? We will have to continue reading Kingdom manga to find out.
