Whisper Me A Love Song Episodes 11 and 12 Reviews

A year ago in Spring 2024, a new shoujo ai (girls’ love) anime began to be released: Whisper Me A Love Song. It was a beautiful and wholesome anime with great music. Unfortunately, it went through serious delays and I didn’t finish covering it on Anime Rants. I genuinely love this anime and I’m finally done procrastinating about it. Today, we’ll talk about the last two episodes of Whisper Me A Love Song. Soon after, I’ll write a review of the series as a whole.

Episode 11: Confrontations and Differences

Episode Rating: 9/10

Himari didn’t feel right about what happened with Shiho recently, so she apologized to Shiho at the earliest chance. Shiho was gracious enough to tell Himari she didn’t need to apologize, as she wasn’t the one who flew off the handle. But then she asked if Himari would pass along the message that Shiho wanted to cut all contact with Aki after the showdown. She assumed there was no way she could possibly lose the contest. As the girls parted ways, Himari ended up feeling worse than before.

Feeling like she was a meddler who only made things worse, Himari cried about it in front of Momoka and Hajime. They comforted her and told her that the way she challenged Shiho was actually a good thing. Later, Himari passed the message to Aki, who was a bit bummed out. But she insisted that everyone would still have fun at the festival. She also asked Himari to do a certain favor for her on the first day of the event. We’ll get to that in a bit.

First, I wanted to point out the adorable moments in this episode between Yori and Himari. They are such a sweet and wholesome couple. I loved when they held hands at the festival! Also, the cosplay café was hilarious and cute. Aki was beautiful in a red china dress and Yori looked like she was cosplaying Sebastian from Black Butler with her black suit, long coattails, and white gloves.

Aki had asked Himari to bring Shiho to a quiet place where they could talk before the showdown. Himari followed through and managed to get Shiho to meet her behind the school. She then sprang the news that Aki was on the way, which angered Shiho. Before long, Aki arrived and began to talk with Shiho. Himari went her own way, hoping the two older girls would mend their friendship. But their talk was emotionally charged, with Shiho angry and bitter. Aki was confused and frustrated by her own failure to understand the issue.

Finally, Shiho spilled the beans and told Aki directly that she was in love with her. Aki was stunned in disbelief. Shiho ran off and had a short cry, realizing that she wasn’t over Aki at all. But there was no time to cry for long. Shiho returned to Momoka and Hajime and they put on an amazing show together. I haven’t yet been able to find the name of the song that Laureley performed here – not even on the Fandom wiki. So if you know it, please tell me! I want to know all the songs from this anime.

Episode 12: A Song for You

Episode Rating: 9/10

Laurely’s performance on day one of the festival was reportedly amazing, even though not much of it was shown. On day two, it would be time for the SSgirls’ performance. Aki was up all night thinking about what she should do. When it was time to meet the others, Aki had a moment with Yori. They awkwardly shook hands. For Aki, this was the proof she needed that she no longer had feelings of romantic love for Yori.

In true asshole fashion, Shiho tried to skip the performance. However, Himari found her and basically forced her to come along. It was impressive to see Himari so determined. With Shiho in tow, she made it back to the auditorium just as the SSgirls were beginning to play. They performed amazingly. The two songs sung by Yori were “Humming Love” and “Time Flies.” Both were quite pretty and upbeat.

The last song in their performance was a very beautiful song called “Kanaria” which was sung (in the TV version) by Aki. The only version I can find online has the voice actors for both Aki and Shiho singing it. Either way, it’s a beautiful song that fits the character of Shiho and her relationships in this series. Both voice actresses – Mikako Komatsu (Aki) and Sui Mizukami (Shiho) – did amazing with this song.

(Side Note: Shiho’s speaking and singing voice actresses are different. Sui Mizukami is the singing voice and Yuna Nemoto is the speaking voice.)

After the singing, Aki announced that she wanted to be with Shiho. At first, Shiho wanted to walk away, but she suddenly had a powerful vision of Kyou giving her a push forward. So when Aki ran to her and embraced her, Shiho was able to hug her back, knowing everything would be ok. When the two girls hugged, it made me cry. It was so beautiful to see them start over again – this time as a romantic couple. Watching this was a healing experience for me.

During the school festival dance that night, Shiho and Aki were sitting alone and talking. To make sure Aki was no longer confused, Shiho took the initiative, grabbed Aki’s collar, and kissed her on the cheek. She then stated, “I have no intention of going back to being just friends.” Holy crap, that was absolutely adorable!

While Shiho was flirting with Aki, Yori and Himari were together on the rooftop. They finally shared their first real kiss. It was beautiful. I really enjoyed this anime and I’ll be a writing a series review for it soon.
