Yasuke’s New Trailer and Visual Reveals Japan’s First Black Samurai and His Invincible Sword Skills!

Yasuke, the upcoming original anime, is a legendary collaboration between MAPPA and LeSean Thomas. The involvement of these two names alone makes this anime something to look forward to.

Since Yasuke is about the very first African samurai in Japan, it adds a whole new level of curiosity to the anime. It is the tale of the black samurai who rose in ranks in Nobunaga’s army while braving fierce discrimination.

Yasuke, the anime series, will premiere worldwide on Netflix on 29th April. A new trailer has been revealed by Netflix and it gives us a clear view into the world of Yasuke.

During the feudal era of Japan, a black samurai was not someone that everyone supported. Yet, Yasuke rose to power with the skills of his sword alone. His talent was recognized by the great conqueror Oda Nobunaga.

The trailer reveals a prophecy about a black warrior who would save everyone from evil. MAPPA seems to have scored another great anime and breathed life into it with its awesome animation techniques.

A thrilling new visual has also been released that portrays a sword embedded into the ground.

LeSean Thomas is the creator of Children on Ether and Cannon Busters. He has also worked on projects like The Legend of Korra, Black Dynamite, and others.

MAPPA, the current anime powerhouse, has produced anime like Yuri!! on Ice, Attack on Titan’s Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen and Banana Fish, amongst numerous others. The cast and staff for the anime are also dynamic.

Yasuke, the protagonist, is a black man which is a rare occurrence in anime. Will this anime be everything that we have ever wanted from an inclusive action series?

About Yasuke

Set during a war-torn feudal Japan with mechs and magic, Yasuke is charged with the task of protecting a mysterious child who’s threatened by dark forces.

He struggles to take care of a peaceful existence after a past life of violence.

But when an area village becomes the centre of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.
