Antique Bakery Receives Thai Live-Action Series: Premieres 2021

Antique Bakery manga follows Keiichiro Tachibana, who was kidnapped as a child. The only thing he remembers is that the kidnapper forced him to eat sweets and he somehow ends up opening a Bakery to deal with his past trauma.

Mangas like Hana Yori Dango and The Way of the Househusband have gained much popularity through their live-action series. It seems like Antique Bakery is also following the same footsteps.

Recently, Thai television production company GMMTV announced that the company is producing a live-action series based on the Antique Bakery manga titled Baker Boys. The series will premiere in 2021.

The video explains the main plot of the series. Punn is the only son of a billionaire who starts a bakery cafe.

A key visual was also released featuring the main characters of the live-action series.

The exact date and episode list have not been revealed yet. However, we already know the main cast.

Right Stuf previously released a television anime adaptation of this manga on DVD.

The Korean film inspired by this manga sold more than 1 million tickets within its first two weeks of its release, making it one of the most successful Korean films ever made.

The Japanese live-action series based on the manga differs in perceptibly from its original manga. However, the series gained a considerable amount of popularity when it was released in 2001.

In the live-action series, the name of the main character is changed to Punn. The series will show the daily life of Poon working in his bakery with the other workers and how he struggles to recover the traumas of his past.

About Antique Bakery

The manga was serialized by Yoshinaga from 1999 to 2002, consisting of four volumes.  Digital Manga Publishing published the manga in English. The series won Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga in 2002.

The manga received an anime adaptation in 2008. The manga also inspired a live-action Japanese series in 2001, and a South Korean film in 2009.

The story follows Keiichiro Tachibana, who starts a bakery to recover from the traumas of his past. He recruits a playboy who’s been fired from every job to attract more girls to his bakery.
