The release date for the film in Japan is set for February 17, 2023. The short anime based on Harusono’s Hirano and Kagiura spinoff manga will also be shown.

Shinji Ishihira of Studio DEEN directs the anime with Takahiro Ueno serving as the assistant director. The script is set to be written by Yoshiko Nakamura, with character design by Maki Fujii and scoring by Kana Shibue.

Miracle Chimpanzee performs “March” as the show’s opening theme, and Ysuke Shirai and Sma Sait, also regulars on the show, will sing “Ichigo Sunset” as the closing theme.

Starting in 2016, Kadokawa’s Media Factory’s Comicmanga magazine began serializing the original Sasaki and Miyano manga. This chapter is part of an ongoing manga series. The manga’s English-language release is distributed by Yen Press. According to Yen Press, this is how the manga unfolds:

“It all started like a typical old-school boys’ love plotline—bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth.

But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys’ love expert, he hasn’t quite realized…he’s in one himself.

Which means it’s up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after…!”

On January 9, 12 episodes of an anime based on the manga began airing on television.
