MAPPA has been carefully playing its cards and climbing the ranks amongst studios recently. With the original water polo anime, RE-MAIN, soon to debut, the studio is getting more attention than ever!
Fans will probably start watching this new anime while keeping in mind the massive success of Yuri!! On Ice, however, that seems inevitable now. With the anime’s debut drawing near, the staff members have a surprise waiting for otakus.
RE-MAIN, the upcoming original anime series, will receive an advance screening on 13th June! Since the anime is actually scheduled for broadcast starting 3rd July, this announcement comes as a pleasing surprise.

Previous trailers and visuals of the anime has shown Minato, the anime’s protagonist, and his skills in the sport.
Fan expectations from this new anime are sky high, especially due to the studio it is originating from. Will RE-MAIN be able to hold its own against the competitive genre of sports anime? Or will we get an unexpected dive into the boys love genre? Surprises are always welcome!
About RE-MAIN
RE-MAIN is an original water polo anime by MAPPA studio, and it will premiere in 2021. Kiyoshi Matsuda is directing the anime, and Shiho Tanaka is taking care of character designs.
Minato Kiyomizu, the protagonist of the story, had to leave competitive water polo in his middle school’s third year due to a traumatic incident. When he enters high school, he starts playing again while building up his own team.
