CBS Adds Four to the Cast of Silence of the Lamb Sequel Series
Four new actors have joined the sequel series of Silence of the Lambs that is being developed by CBS. According to Deadline, Marnee Carpenter, Tim Guinee, Shawn Doyle and Jayne Atkinson have been cast in the upcoming Clarice, which will follow the eponymous FBI agent who was immortalized by Jodie Foster in the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs.
The sequel series will follow Clarice Starling after Buffalo Bill’s case when she has graduated from FBI Academy. She will be back in the field and on the tail of serial killers and sexual predators while tackling the high-profile political world of Washington DC.
Marnee Carpenter is set to play Catherine Martin, the young woman who was rescued from Buffalo Bill’s basement, while Jayne Atkinson will play Catherine’s mother, Ruth. Shawn Doyle will play Clarice’s therapist and Guinee has been cast as Novak, a secessionist militia group leader.
Australian actress Rebecca Breeds has been roped in to play the leading role of the titular character. She was seen as Nicole in the last two seasons of Pretty Little Liars and has also appeared as Aurora del Martel in The Originals.
Clarice will not be related to the critically acclaimed series Hannibal, which is also set in the universe created by Thomas Harris. Fans of the psychological thriller have to wait some more to see their favorite characters from the show in a revival or a feature film.
Showrunner Alex Kurtzman has said that the show will not follow a procedural format like most crime dramas. Instead, it will narrate a serialized story from the point of view of Clarice Starling.
CBS has not announced a premiere date for Clarice.
