Fire Force Season 3’s Under Production: Which Storylines Will It Bend?
Since its 2019 premiere, when the first of two seasons aired, ‘Fire Force’ has quickly become a fan favorite. The show’s success can be attributed to its compelling post-apocalyptic premise, which includes the concept of ‘fighting fire with fire’ to ensure survival.
Given the enthusiastic reception, you may be wondering how soon we might expect Season 3. After the conclusion of Season 2 in December of 2020, Season 3 wasn’t confirmed until May of 2022.
There has been no additional information released. But we still know with absolute certainty what the new season will bring.
The cast or premiere date for Season 3 of Fire Force have not been announced by the production team. More information is expected to be released this year. Due to the lack of updates, season three could premiere in the fourth quarter of 2023.
First season ‘Fire Force’ finished the Netherworld Arc, which included 90 chaps (up to the first three chaps of Vol 11). Up until chapter 174 (about halfway through Volume 20) was covered in the subsequent season.
The final chapter of the manga was published in February 2022, leaving us with 130 chaps (about 14 vols) spanning 10 different story arcs.
Shinra’s Adolla Link, the meaning of the ‘blue flames’ around his body, and the existence of doppelgangers will all be explored in greater depth during the third season. The forthcoming season will most likely feature a decisive clash between the White-Clad and the Knights of the Ashen Flame.
Obi’s Rescue Arc, Stone Pillar Arc, Asakusa Showdown Arc, Battle of Amaterasu Arc, and Great Catastrophe Arc are some of the remaining significant plot arcs that haven’t been addressed.
If we stick to the same schedule as past seasons and cover about 10 volumes in 24 episodes, we would still be left with 4 volumes. However, this signals the beginning of the Great Cataclysm.
It’s possible that this will be the last season of “Fire Force,” given that the action sequences could enable for many chapters to be condensed into a small number of episodes. To prevent cramming too much into one season, the number of episodes may be increased from the standard 24.
It’s also possible, though unlikely, that Season 3 will pick up before or during the Asakusa Showdown Arc and end with the Battle of Amaterasu. This would leave opportunity for a fourth and final season of reduced length, but it would fall short of the typical 10 volumes.
Season 3 of ‘Fire Force’ has been promised for this year, and it should arrive sometime soon. Of course, we won’t see it until the following season, but the teaser could come at any time. After being in the dark for nearly a year, any new information will be quite significant.

Atsushi kubo is the author and illustrator of the Fire Force shnen manga series. The manga debuted in September 2015 as a serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. After 34 volumes, the series was cancelled in February of 2022.
