Netflix’s reboot of the cult-classic Ghost in the Shell created havoc within the sci-fi otaku community as soon as it came out. It got so popular that the company was forced to give us another season that premiered today on the platform, and action is not the only thing we’re here to talk about.

Millennium Parade, who performed the OP and ED for Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_4045 season 2, has posted its opening sequence on their official YouTube channel.

The opener is psychedelic-themed and makes us feel like we’re diving deeper into a never-ending kaleidoscope of buildings and computer codes. But the sequence starts with zooming into Motoko’s eye, so it might be a reference to what goes inside the protagonist’s head.

The first episode is an exciting one, giving the season a strong start. Public Security Section 9 is worried about Togusa’s whereabouts after the events of season 1’s finale but is given a new lead to follow regarding post-humans.

PSS9 is being made to investigate a Russian engineer named Philip Kukushkin, who says he has the code to trigger the post-human brain. But by the time PSS9 reaches, Kukushkin’s human body is assassinated, and the engineer has transferred his brain to a helper robot.

This makes Kukushkin a target for both PSS9 and others who want him dead. Motoko shoots down the man targeting Philip but is unable to deal with post-human Suzuka Mizukane, who’s also after Kukushkin.

Moreover, the anime’s staff revealed a new key visual featuring the entire Public Security Section 9 in their stealth gear.

I can’t tell you more than this because where’s the fun and suspense in that? Takashi will make his anticipated appearance in later episodes, and I don’t want that to be spoiled for you all in an article.

So, go binge the season now because we all know how Netflix loves to ruin our sleep cycles by dumping the entire season on us at once.
