The 17-year-old homeless character Finn Oldman is the focus of the poker-themed anime. Finn goes for a casino with the intention of making a fortune and saving his orphanage after learning that it is about to close due to financial strain.

However, when Finn enters the casino, he is horrified to see a vehicle chase and bloody gunfight brought on by a man’s “lucky” card.

Throughout the course of the series, Finn will discover more about what led to the firefight and how a deck of 52 X-Playing cards, which have the ability to grant their owners various superhuman skills and powers, can manipulate the global order.

This specific deck of cards enables users to access internal “buddy” powers that they can discover. While working as part-time employees of a high-end vehicle manufacturer by the name of Pinochle, there is a clandestine organization of players known as High Card who were specifically instructed by the monarch of Fourland to gather these cards that have been dispersed throughout the kingdom.

Finn is chosen to be the group’s fifth member and sets out on a perilous quest to locate these cards. The Klondikes, a notorious Mafia family, and a competing car manufacturer that is infatuated with the game of Pinochle stand in the way of the High Card’s quest, which is not without difficulties.
