Japan’s Best Studios Unite to Hook Otakus to Star Wars: Vision This Fall!

We can all profess that Star Wars have been on the rise lately, thanks to Disney Plus, after the debacle that was the last three films.

Shows such as The Mandalorian’s return to the roots, western style, and baby Yoda have single-handedly revived the series in pop culture.

Now the big mouse in his castle has smelled money and is doing what it does the best – bringing us spinoffs and sequels. So this latest news comes as no surprise.

Disney has announced that Star Wars: Vision is a new anime anthology series coming to Disney Plus on 22nd September 2021. Seven major Japanese anime studios will helm the anthology of nine short films.

The short sneak peek provides a wide-eye view of the art style and direction these different studios are taking, from katana lightsaber to Astro boy-inspired droid. As a result, the series mesh the unique Japanese anime style, but it also complements the existing Star Wars tone.

The video also looks at popular characters such as Jabba the Hutt in a chibi style. According to the officials, all the films will have a self-contained story with plot elements from the current star wars trope.

We can expect to see Force users and various space ships such as X-wing starfighters and a twin Star Destroyer, and much more.

The anime anthology comes in the backdrop of various anime acquisitions done by Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both the streaming sites have acquired scores of anime titles in the past month, with Amazon bagging the rights to the Rebuild of Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise.

Considering the lack of anime in Disney Plus, Star Wars Vision seems like a strategic move by Disney to get exclusive anime without licensing them from Japanese studios.

With the new show announcement, both otakus and Star War fans are overjoyed. If you belong to any of the categories, don’t miss out on Visions this September.
