Jensen Ackles Joins The Boys in season 3
Our favorite superheroes, The Boys, are returning for a second season this fall, but the series is already looking ahead to season three with news of a cast addition.
Jensen Ackles is joining The Boys in the third season. He is currently wrapping up the final season of Supernatural, which will return to The CW in October.
The casting news was announced on Ackles’ social media account, followed by an official confirmation from Amazon.
The pick-up of Season 3 of The Boys was announced during the SDCC panel of the show on July 23.
Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 4, with new episodes available weekly till October 9.
Announcing the same in a press release, Amazon stated: “Ackles will portray Soldier Boy – the original Superhero. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades.”
Showrunner and executive producer of The Boys Eric Kripkdejoked about the casting, saying, “When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream – to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother.”
Kripke further added that he hoped Jensen would bring a bit of the Supernatural to the show, “As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”
