Chapter 320 has Bakugo showing up with the whole Class 1A to save Deku and help him on his ongoing mission. Although it has a lot of Bakugo calling out Midoriya for thinking he is a big shot, his first interaction is an interesting one.

Bakugo points out how Deku is even drawn differently from the rest, blowing through the fourth wall.

Ever since Izuku’s interaction with All for One, his art style has had a lot of hatching indicating his dark mental state. Of course, this is sort of out of place, but it is amazing how someone inside the story pointed out what we were thinking.

One would think this is a way to draw Black Whip and his mask, but it’s a deliberate change as the same kind of hatching is there when he is unmasked, and everything else is clean.

This kind of fourth wall break is something we would expect from a character like Deadpool, not Bakugo. Horikoshi has stated that he is big a fan of Marvel Comics and how he takes inspiration from different superheroes.

Deku has Black Whip and Danger Sense quirks, which are reminiscent of Spiderman’s powers, Horikoshi’s favorite superhero. So, it was only a matter of time we saw something like this in the story.

It is very cool of the mangaka to represent Deku’s state through his art. We might see it getting cleaner should he decide to accept the help of his comrades. Or maybe go full black if he goes all out against his friends.
