We all know how Netflix live-action adaptations tend to turn out, but an anime remake of a live-action film is another thing. While the majority of Netflix reboots or remakes have been awful, Bright: Samurai Soul seems quite promising.

The upcoming anime film is based on Netflix’s 2017 film, Bright, starring Will Smith. Unlike the film, though, the remake takes place in the Meiji period, where ronin Izo and orc Raiden must protect a young elf girl Sonya on her journey to the land of elves.
Netflix has released a promotional video for Bright: Samurai Soul. The upcoming anime film will debut on October 12, 2021.
The PV reveals the center point of the story, the Wand, which holds immeasurable power and follows the user’s will, be it good or evil. We see Sonya being protected by Izo and Raiden from various situations, even against Izo’s familiar Master Kotetsu.
The key visual for the film was also released on Netflix Geeked’s Twitter account.
The visual shows Izo, Raiden and Sonya, standing in front of a castle while the story’s antagonist, Master Kotetsu, stares maliciously from the background.
The film has also released the main cast for the film.

Netflix Announces Samurai Soul: Anime Film Remake Of Will Smith’s Bright!!
While the original film did not turn too many heads, it seems like the animated medium might be better suited for the story. The change of setting to a more samurai-themed story might also work in its favor. Will it be better than the original? We will find out soon.

Bright: Samurai Soul is a anime film spinoff of the 2017 Bright live-action film that starred Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
Based on the Netflix movie, the anime film will be directed by Kyohei Ishiguro.
The movie centers around Izo, a Ronin, and Raiden, an orc, work to bring a young elf girl and the wand she carries to the land of the elves in the north.
