Shameless Season Eleven: Showtime Announces Premiere In December

Showtime’s comedy-drama Shameless is coming back on the network in December. The Gallagher family is returning to television screens to appal the viewers with their antics. The eleventh season, also the show’s final season, was supposed to drop in summer 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the new season will drop this year, the number of episodes has not been specified.

The last time the Gallagher family was on screen was back in January. The dysfunctional family was already suffering from the consequences of Frank’s alcoholism for years. Season eleven will pick up on the same tracks and show how the Gallaghers are tackling their father’s mortality and their new roles.

The debauched family has come a long way since the show began in 2011. In the new season, Lip is trying to realize his role as the family’s patriarch, Ian and Mickey have to adjust to being a married couple and Deb will have to learn the ropes of being a single mother. Their life in the South Side will also be affected by the coronavirus and gentrification in the new season.

The whole cast from the tenth season will be returning for the final one. William. H. Macy will reprise his role as the alcoholic head of the Gallagher family, Frank. Emma Kenney, Steve Howey, Shanola Hampton, Ethan Cutkosky and Cameron Monaghan will be coming back to the show.

Season eleven will premiere on December 6th, 9 pm ET/PT on Showtime. You can catch up on the first ten seasons which are available to stream on Netflix, fuboTV and Showtime OTT.

About Shameless

Shameless follows a dysfunctional South Side family called the Gallaghers. The patriarch, Frank, is a single father who tries and fails to raise his six children. The siblings look out for one another and often have to take care of their alcohol-abusing father.

Shameless is based on the British show of the same name, created by Paul Abbott. It is one of the only American remakes of a British show that has become a success in itself. The American version premiered on Showtime on January 9th, 2011 and became the longest-running original scripted show of the network.
