Street Fighter Pro Daiga Umehara aka The Beast Tests Positive for Covid
Daigo Umehara, aka the Beast, has been a name synonymous with competitive Street Fighter tournaments.
Even before a term such as “Pro Gamer,” he was well known in the media as the “God of 2D Fighting games”. His contribution to the current gaming culture is well respected by people who may not know much about gaming.
However, a piece of unfortunate news has struck the Beast’s fans!
On Saturday morning, Streetfighter Pro Daigo Umehara announced on both his Japanese and English Twitter accounts that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Daigo Umehera announced through Twitter on May 5 that he was suffering from high fever and fatigue, and got himself tested for COVID-19. Unfortunately, his report came back positive.
Umehara also announced that he has been under self-quarantine since the symptoms started. He is currently resting at his home while awaiting further notice from the health administrative office.
Umehara has apologized for causing any concerns to his colleagues and supporters and added that he would focus on quick recovery from the disease.
In a recent retweet on May 8th, Pro Gamer Fuudo will be tagging in for Diago for a charity event, “Wings for Life World Run” to raise money for Spinal cord research.
Pro gamer Daigo Umehara, better known as “The Beast” or “The God of 2D Fighting Games, “ is one of the world’s most famous Street Fighter Gamers. Currently, he holds the Guinness book record of most views for a competitive fighting game on youtube.
He has been an inspiration to countless mangas, and recently Udon entertainment is releasing Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! manga in English.
Additionally, a new wave of Covid-19 has hit Japan, the government has declared an emergency in at least four prefectures, and many events are suspended until further notice, such as the Tokyo Olympics and the Comiket.
Furthermore, with Daigo Umehara being hit by Covid 19, many others such as Demon slayer’s Akari Kito and love live’s Kanako Takatsuki are also diagnosed positive for COVID 19.
Many fans have been wishing for a quick recovery for Daigo Umehara.
