The seven gods who imprisoned him in a realm of swords and magic bestowed upon him the ability to do special magic feats on his own, which he could then use to wow the other prisoners. No matter what, he had to keep watch.
Kazuya was hand-picked by the gods so that he can use the wisdom he has gained from his many lifetimes past to the task of making this one a better place. In addition, he had no idea that his character was intended to be the Apostle. Who in the mythological realm would dare to stand in the way of a malicious deity?
