3. Quick Review
I. Story and Characters
Excel Saga has a fairly simple story while having no specific story at all. Each episode makes fun of a certain genre and its common situations while staying relevant.
The real storyline starts to become clear towards the end of the show when all the plot points start coming together.
Excel Saga is not perfect, but it’s not trying to be perfect either. If you’re looking for a mindless magical comedy, you will definitely enjoy its plot.
The two main characters, Excel and Hyatt, are cute, loveable, and a teensy bit annoying. Excel’s energy comes across as too high at some points, but you’ll get used to it.
II. Animation and Sound
The animation is pretty standard 2000’s animation. It’s not extremely good looking but isn’t bad either.
The soundtrack is pretty fun, especially the ending theme. Although the OSTs are forgettable, the soundtrack really shines during the opening and closing.
