Toei May Work with Warner Bros. on Gear 5 Luffy

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the animation of Luffy’s Gear 5 form ever since it was introduced in chapter 1045 of the anime. Before Gear 5, the extent to which Luffy’s abilities were understood was merely that he had a rubber body.

In Gear 5, Oda continues to use the same basic ideas, however his rubber powers have been greatly improved, making him virtually invincible.

Recently, speculations have been circulating that Gear 5 Luffy will be animated by Warner Bros., which would make sense given Luffy’s cartoonish, Looney Toons-style of fighting. Let’s find out more about this rumor, shall we?

The cartoony nature of Gear 5 Luffy’s animation suggests that Toei is working with Warner Bros. Warner Bros. has mastered animating actions like those seen in Looney Tunes cartoons. But these are only rumors, and their veracity is doubtful at best.

Will Warner Bros. and Toei collaborate on Gear 5 animation?

Leaks suggest that Toei may be working with industry heavyweights. It appears that Warner Bros. is involved in the animation of Gear 5 Luffy, given that he fights in a rather comical fashion.

Since no one has done cartoon-style animation better than these titans have since 1923, it seems logical that they are cooperating with Warner Bros.

The involvement of Warner Bros. animators ensures high quality, so that’s good news. However, as these are only rumors, we have no basis on which to evaluate their veracity.

However, we can only keep our fingers crossed because hiring Warner Bros. to animate Gear 5 Luffy would be a brilliant move.

Oda’s Original Path to Luffy’s Fifth Gear!

Oda used a different approach than the standard in anime, when the main character gains the ability to destroy planets. From the beginning of the anime, it’s been made clear that the real goal here isn’t to amass the most power, but rather to achieve personal independence.

Oda also used his ingenuity to give Luffy an advantage. The ultimate form of Luffy’s ability, Gear 5, is not some wild power-up but rather grants Luffy complete freedom of movement in any direction.

His cartoonishly malleable defense was the product of his elastic body and his complete independence. It’s a nice change of pace from the usual shounen, and we can never really guess what Oda will do next.
