5. Eishi Tsukasa

5 Best Chefs - Eishi Tsukasa

Eishi Tsukasa is the former 1st seat in the Elite Ten Council of Tōtsuki Academy. Tsukasa’s natural talent lies in flavour. His cooking style centres around bringing out the potential of ingredients to create a distinguished mixture of flavours. Thus, he is capable of crafting broad yet unique flavours while mixing them in various components. His title is ‘The White Knight of the Table’.

4. Kojirō Shinomiya

5 Best Chefs - Kojirō Shinomiya

Kojirō Shinomiya is known as ‘The Légumes’ Magician’. He is also a world-renowned Japanese chef. Shinomiya’s very first French award was the coveted Pluspol award, which cemented his status in this elite society. A spin-off manga Shokugeki no Soma: L’étoile was made especially for him as well.

3. Jōichirō Yukihira (birth name: Jōichirō Saiba)

5 Best Chefs - Jōichirō Yukihira

Jōichrō is a legendary chef, and has been so ever since he was still a student in Tōtsuki. He was generally regarded as the best upcoming chef at that time. Jōichrō also held a fearsome reputation for his talent in creating unusual cooking blends that created some of the most interesting dishes ever seen. His skill was great enough that he managed to earn the 7th seat in his 2nd year of High School. Later, he also earned the 2nd seat in his 3rd year. Here is a link with Jōichrō’s duel records.

2. Asahi Saiba

Asahi Saiba stands out from all other chefs for two things. Firstly, he won against Jōichirō (a world-class chef); secondly, his cross knives cooking style and how he collects knives. Moreover, he does not collect just any knives. Asahi collects only the ones he wins from cooking duels. Asahi is also the leader of a group of chefs called Noir, which is a group of chefs that are either criminals or are employed by criminals.

1. Sōma Yukihira

Soma Yukihira is with no doubt the best chef in Food Wars series, even though he’s only still a 15-year old second-year high school student. His unrivalled passion for cooking is due to his resourcefulness and unchecked creativity in improvising unheard of and new recipes on the spot, especially during cooking duels. Soma’s extensive culinary knowledge and diverse food ingredients only add even more to his ability.
