Acclaimed Director Kenji Kamiyama Directing The Lord of The Rings Anime Film

The Lord of the Rings franchise is an immensely popular media franchise consisting of books, movies, sequels, merch, tourist locations, etc. Critically acclaimed even by snobbish critics’ standards, the collection has garnered a sale of over 150 million copies.

The book collections are of the epic high fantasy genre and are well-known for their meticulously crafted world-building. The English author J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings. Translations of the novel are available in around 38 languages, which is a testament to its popularity and canonical status.

Luckily if you’re an anime fan as well as an ardent TLOTR fan, you’re in for some great news. Recently, Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema declared that they’ll be producing a new feature anime film based on the popular franchise together.

They also announced that Kenji Kamiyama will be the director of the feature film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim. The announcement revealed some other important details. Sola Entertainment will take charge of the animation while the distribution will be taken care of by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Who is Kenji Kamiyama?

Kenji Kamiyama is an anime director who has directed many media of the Ghost in the Shell franchise. He has directed the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex for the anime studio Production I.G. 

Kamiyama has directed other TV series like Guardian of the Sacred Spirit and Eden of the East. He has worked in iconic anime like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Akira as a background artist.

Plot of The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim

TheLord of the Rings anime film will take viewers through the legendary battle that was the foundation for the original novel’s events to transpire. This battle gave Middle-Earth its present-day frontiers and distinctive characteristics.

It will explore this by narrating the untold story of Helm Hammerhand, the majestic King of Rohan and his life of blood, sweat, and tears. 

Who are the Scriptwriters?

The writers of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews are the scriptwriters of this TLOTR anime film. Philippa Boyens, an Oscar Winner and writer for The Lord of the Rings And The Hobbit, will be helping with the project too.
