Get Lost in the Starry World of ‘Insomniacs After School’ Anime Next Year

Insomniacs After School is a story that acts as a safe haven for anyone with insomnia. Besides showing the unpleasant sides of the condition, the manga sheds light on the silver lining: experiencing the beauty of nighttime.

Since this is a condition found chiefly among high-schoolers, Makoto Ojiro made a manga about it. But instead of making insomniacs relive the trauma through it, he decided to show the world the brighter side of it.

Makoto Ojiro’s Insomniacs After School has revealed that its anime adaptation is slated to come out in 2023. The franchise revealed a wholesome trailer for the same.

It starts with a monologue of the protagonist Ganta, an insomniac high schooler. As he goes up to his safe space, the school’s abandoned observatory, Ganta finds a ‘sleeping beauty,’ or the anime’s second lead, Isaki.

Suffering from the same sleepless condition as Ganta, both he and Isaki find solace and comfort in each other’s presence. Soon the pair begins to enjoy the freedom of the night rather than being imprisoned by it.

Isaki’s unique perception of the world gives Ganta the courage and breath of fresh air that he needed all along. Getting lost in the starry night and spending time with each other in the magical observatory became something Ganta and Isaki started to cherish a lot.
