Netflix’s upcoming anime, Spriggan, plays with myth and reality to construct a peculiar world. In this series, the protagonist’s duty is to ensure that evil organizations don’t get their hands on powers granted by ancient civilizations.

Netflix is currently streaming a new trailer of Spriggan, which confirms the June 18, 2022 release date of the anime. The English subtitled trailer is perfect for getting a gist of who the Spriggans are.

You may have noticed several individuals cursing and screaming at a recurring name in the teaser, Spriggan. No, it is not a super annoying person. Spriggans are officials who are responsible for protecting ancient artifacts from evil powers.

Our protagonist, Yu Ominae, is a part of this Spriggan team and is given one tough mission after another. His first mission in Japan is where the story starts and it gradually develops to take the boy on various adventures.

A new cast member has just been introduced. Yoshimasa Hosoya will voice Iwao Akatsuki. Iwao is a member of Trident, an organization that rivals the Spriggans. Yoshimasa also voices Reiner Braun from Attack on Titan.

Several secret artifacts have been teased in the video, along with some crazy-looking villains. From hunks of muscles to walking machines, you can get a good variety of villains here.

Nonetheless, Spriggan is a much-awaited action series with the right amount of mystery. Now all you have to do is wait patiently for summer when the anime can debut with all its glory.

About Spriggan

Spriggan is a Japanese manga series written by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryōji Minagawa. The manga was adapted into an anime film by Studio 4°C in 1998.

An original net animation (ONA) anime series adaptation by David Production is scheduled for a 2021 premiere on Netflix.

Spriggan takes places in the last years of the Cold War where mysterious and unknown artifacts called out-of-place artifacts (OOPArt) are discovered in various parts of the world.

Leading to a secret war between various forces against the ARCAM Corporation, an organization that placed itself the guardians of the OOPArts in order to prevent them from being used as weapons.
