New LOTR Movie’s Release Date Gets Delayed, but Thers’s a Silver Lining!

Amid a barrage of upcoming delays, Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated animated feature Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim becomes one of the latest films to get its release date pushed back.

Directed by legendary anime director Kenji Kamiyama, the spin-off/prequel will tell the story of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary king of Rohan who lived 183 years before the unfolding of the canon saga. The movie will also feature a familiar voice: Miranda Otto, who will return to be the voice of the narrator of the entire story.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Kamiyama’s film has been delayed from its original launch date of April 12, 2024, to December 13, 2024. It is because of the domino effect set by other Warner Bros. movies like Dune 2 and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire which were postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

However, there are many silver linings. Firstly, the film will follow the tradition of previous LOTR films, which have all had December openings.

Moreover, Prime Video’s own The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 may also be released sometime in 2024. Therefore, LOTR fans may be in for a treat in the second half of next year.

Additionally, Wētā Workshop, the same studio that brought Peter Jackson’s films to life, is also at work on a mysterious Lord of the Rings game that will be out in 2024. Fans of the epic saga will have much to look forward to in different forms of media, making 2024 an epic year for Middle Earthers.

Finally, Warner Bros. and New Line have already announced that they are working on several LOTR movies that will follow Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. So, fellow Middle Earthers, be prepared to be overwhelmed by a barrage of Lord of the Rings movies!

Once, LOTR creatives used to be a rarity, barring the trilogy. However, the recent Warner Bros. and Prime Video wave will turn the tide completely!
