Prepare for Bloodshed in 2023 with Vinland Saga Season 2
Vikings have always been portrayed as a community that enjoys mindless violence and war. While that is mostly true, Vinland Saga showed us how scheming and wise these people could be when the situation called for it.
Based on various historical events and personalities, Makoto Yukimura’s tale created a loyal fan base that has been patiently (not quite) waiting for the next season.
After almost three years of leaving fans on a ruthless cliffhanger, the franchise has finally revealed a date to look forward to.
The epic tale of Vinland Saga will resume in January 2023, with the anime’s second season featuring the Slave arc or Ketil’s Farm arc.
Since the anime has given us so much pain and plans to continue, it has shifted its animation studio to MAPPA. I mean, what’s better than a studio with a doctorate in animating a series that traumatizes its fans to the core.
The franchise unveiled a barbaric trailer depicting Canute’s terror reign over England and Denmark. It also introduces various new characters like Ketil, his sons Olmar and Thorgil, and the multiple slaves working on his farm, with Thorfinn as one of them.
With MAPPA’s characteristic animation style and detailed work, the video provides loads of gore and combat scenes. However, there are also a few peaceful moments, which I know will soon become horrific memories.
Moreover, the franchise has also revealed a menacing key visual for the upcoming season. It features some of the familiar faces with new ones.
