We have seen multiple people getting transported to different worlds before, but nothing like this one. This is the kind of anime that is hard to figure out from a surface level. Rather than a fantasy setting, this is categorized as sci-fi, which raises even more questions.

Just when we were about to figure something out, some new visuals have come to light that will make your head spin more than ever before.

The official website for Sonny Boy anime has released a new PV. The series starts airing on 15th July, 2021.

The PV begins with everyone in the class contemplating what has happened with the school and where they are right now. It also features a series of bizarre visuals such as a digital vast land and a red lake.

These are possibly places from the alternate dimension or the students’ recently gained powers at work. The PV also features the theme song “Shonen Shojo” by Ging Nang BOYZ.

The key visual for the upcoming anime has also been released.

The visual shows the main characters Mizuho, Nagara, Nozomi, and Asakaze on the terrace of the school building looking into the alternate dimension. The black background is the sky of this dimension.

The first episode of the series will be pre-screened on The Matsutake Youtube channel on 19th June 2021 from 20:00 JST. The screening will be live and will not be available after the event has ended.

We all have come to expect some serious quality from Madhouse. With shows like Hunter x Hunter, One Punch Man, and Death Note under their belt, it is hard to work out why Sonny Boy will be any different.

Sonny Boy, Studio Madhouse’s Unique Isekai Anime, Confirms July Premiere

It is probably the first time we have seen an anime original isekai from a big studio. The plot seems unique for the genre. Without any light novel or a manga to follow, it will be interesting to find out how these high school students fare in a bizarre alternate dimension.

About Sonny Boy

Sonny Boy is an original anime by Shingo Natsume, the director of One-Punch Man. Studio Madhouse is animating it and Hisashi Euguchi is the original illustrator.

Nagara is a middle-schooler but in the middle of his summer vacation, he is transported to an unknown school in the middle of nowhere. All his classmates are transported there as well.

A sci-fi survival series begins as the students try to figure out what is happening around them.
