On January 7, Thursday, mangaka Takehiko Inoue announced on his Twitter account that his Slam Dunk manga is inspiring a new anime film.

Takehiko teases us with a GIF saying, “SLAM DUNK.” No other details regarding the plot or release date have been revealed yet.

The original manga has already inspired an anime series and four anime sequels in the early 90s. We still don’t know if this upcoming film is a sequel since there is a gap of about 25 years.

Toei Animation will be taking charge of the production, and the fact in itself is enough for us to anticipate quality content from the film. The official website is expected to release the cast and staff information soon.
