The Detective is Already Dead New PV Takes Us to the Day When Kimizuka Met Siesta

The Detective is Already Dead is quite a twist from the conventional detective crime thrillers, in which the romance and comedy elements are blended with its mystery plot, giving equal weightage to each genre.

Kimihiko was once a famous high school detective but steps down after a tragic incident. However, crisis and new mysteries seem to follow him all the way through his retirement life, thereby dragging him back to the field.

The Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020 held on Sunday revealed a new promotion video for the anime adaptation of ‘The Detective is Already Dead’ light novel series.

The promo video takes us to the day when Kimizuka became the assistant detective of a world-famous detective, thereby opening a whole new dimension to his boring life.

Kimizuka is travelling by a plane, with a beautiful blue-eyed beautiful girl, Siesta, sitting right beside him. A regular flight journey isn’t normal when our crisis magnet protagonist is there. Something goes very wrong, and both of them have to deal with it.

In the very next scene, Siesta is seen fighting a mysterious purple-colored creature. However, it’s strange how she casually pulls out a gun in an airplane.

The 1-minute-long video is surprisingly action-filled with a catchy background music, and it ends with a glimpse of a purple-colored lotus.

The exact release date of the anime has not been revealed yet but is expected to premiere sometime in July. The franchise will release its next key visual on March 20, 2012.

The Detective Is Already Dead Anime Reveals A Key Visual Featuring Kimizuka And Nagisa

The title itself suggests that the detective is going to die, but how can a dead character have so much importance in the story? A previously released visual introduced a third character, Natsunagi, and I wonder if she has something to do with this dead detective.

Can Kimizuka come out of his despair of losing Siesta and unravel the mystery that she left unsolved? I am really excited to see how these characters adapt from the light novel pages to the anime silver screen.

About The Detective Is Already Dead

Written by Nigojū and Umibōzu’s The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru), the light novel follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a third-year high school student and former assistant of a detective named Siesta.

He made Siesta’s acquaintance three years ago, 10,000 meters above the ground in a hijacked plane. The two went on one death-defying adventure after another for three years that eventually ended with Siesta’s untimely death. In the present day, Kimihiko tries his best to reintegrate himself back into normal life.
