The first episode of Bleach aired on 10 October 2022 and God, was it not everything we wanted? It ticked all the tiny boxes of expectations we had from the anime.

The art was gorgeous, the animation was clean and by the looks of it, the anime will definitely have a lot more gore. It definitely gave us a nostalgic feeling.

Sternritter have infiltrated the Head Captain’s Office and severely injured Sasakibe. Will he survive or will his demise be the first on the long list of deaths we will witness this season?

The Events Leading To Sasakibe’s Death!

Sasakibe Chojiro fights the Sternritter who have infiltrated the Gotei 13 Headquarters. His bankai is stolen and he is stabbed by an arrow which is several times larger than his body. His wounds are untreatable and he passes away.

Ichigo Kurosaki is attacked by Ebern in World of Living, and we see a fight unfold. As Ebern is provoking Ichigo to use his bankai, we wonder why!

In a switch to Soul Society, we see that Sternritter has easily walked into the Headquarters of Yamamoto. They comment that the security of the place is too lax considering that the head of all Soul Society resides there.

Yamamoto replies by saying he alone is enough, this causes Quincy to propel Sasakibe and stab him with an arrow that is multiple times the size of his body.

Yamamoto uses his flames but they disappear into the shadow. Sasakibe before succumbing to his wounds reveals that the Sternritter can steal their bankai.

This explains why Ebern was so intent on pushing Ichigo to use his bankai. However, for some reason, Ebern is unable to steal Ichigo’s bankai.

The Tragic Nature of Sasakibe’s Death!

While most consider Sasakibe weak, there is nothing further away from the truth. He is one of the strongest Soul Reapers and was able to permanently Scar Genryusai. He is also the most fiercely loyal person we get to see in the series.

We have always wondered how this purple-haired shinigami was even 1st Division’s Vice Captain. We eventually get to know that he has a very powerful Soul Reaper.

He had an immensely powerful bankai that was able to injure Genryusai giving him a permanent scar. He has always trained hard to gain mastery over his bankai but has never made a public display.

About Bleach

Bleach is a Japanese anime television series based on Tite Kubo’s manga of the same name. The anime series adapts Kubo’s manga but also introduces some new, original, self-contained story arcs.

It is based in Karakura Town on a 15-year-old high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who becomes a substitute Soul Reaper when Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, puts Soul Reaper powers in Ichigo. They barely manage to kill the hollow.

Although initially reluctant to accept the heavy responsibility, he begins eliminating some more hollows and also discovers that several of his friends and classmates are spiritually aware and have powers of their own.
