Third Window Films have distributed numerous Asian Cinema titles including 2018’s cult hit award-winning Japanese film One Cut of the Dead and brought back Macoto Tezka’s The Legend of the Stardust Brothers.

The website of the Third Window Films announced that they will release an upcoming Blu-ray disc of The Weird and Wonderful Wolf of Gekija on January 25, 2021.

The Weird and Wonderful World of Ujicha will be available for SRP £29.99.

They have also acquired the license to release two Gekimation anime style films from director Ujicha.

Gekimation is a style of animation in which cardboard cutouts are filmed in live-action to simulate motion.

Not only that, but this animation style also employs real-world elements such as actual fluids and a real fire in place of animated or drawn versions of each.

The first film is Burning Buddha Man, based on an original story written by Reo Anzai.

It is about Beniko, a high school girl who is on a journey to unravel the mystery behind the stolen Buddha statue from her family temple and the death of her parents.

The other feature film is, Violence Voyager written by Ujicha. The story is about two children Bobby and Akkun, who decide to visit the mountains outside their village to find a secret base.

The bonus also features three short films – Tempura, The Retnepac2, and Space Yokai War. A 20-minute interview with director Ujicha, audio commentary from director Ujicha and producer Reo Anzai is included.

This release will also include a slipcover and reversible artwork.

The collection covers the 2013 film Burning Buddha Man and the 2018 film Violence Voyager across two Blu-ray discs (Region B) in Japanese audio with English subtitles and a couple of on-disc bonus features.
