Trailer For The 2nd SAO Progressive Film Teases The Deadly 5th Floor

All Sword Art Online fans know how vicious each of Aincrad’s floors is, but not all had the opportunity to debut in the anime series. So, to compensate for the lost content, the franchise gave us the Progressive film series.

The first film, Aria of a Starless Night, gave us a detailed retelling of the novel’s first volume. As much as we loved it, the film was just a bit more than what we’ve seen in the TV anime.

On the contrary, its sequel brings us a plethora of never-before-seen footage: Aincrad’s fifth level.

The latest trailer for the Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of a Dark Dusk anime film accurately depicts the dangers of Aincrad’s fifth level. The film is scheduled to open in Japan on September 10, 2022, with an advance screening at Shinjuku Wald 9 on August 24.

The trailer also previews the film’s theme song ‘Shinzо̄’ (Heart), performed by Eir Aoi and written by n-buna of the Yorushika band.

If you’re wondering why the fifth floor is getting so much hype, although Kirito and gang have completed all the levels, then here’s why:

At the end of the trailer, Kirito is horrified to realize that the fifth level has things that weren’t in the beta version. Being a beta tester was Kirito’s greatest advantage over others, and now they’ll be facing something that he hasn’t seen before.

Not to mention, the floor has a special category of Player Killers who are not even interested in clearing the game. All they want is to stop others from getting out and wreaking havoc. Sounds like an easy level, right?

Additionally, the website has also unveiled a key visual featuring the film’s main characters.

‘SAO -Progressive-‘ 2nd Anime Film’s Visual Reveals September Debut

I wasn’t particularly excited about the film series, given how they were adapting the Aincrad arc again, but the trailer changed my mind.

Although the arc has disappointed us, I think we should give it another chance.

About Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.

The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.

At the launch of the game, 10,000 people had connected themselves to the virtual reality of Sword Art Online. The plot takes a twist when people realize that they can’t quit the game.

Protagonist Kirito, a pro gamer and was present for the beta launch of SAO, starts planning to clear levels as soon as possible. Throughout his quest to finish the game, he meets many friends and also a love interest, Asuna.

The plot and the whole premise of the show are remarkably unique and quite believable in some futuristic sense.
