Unlike what popular media has made you believe, all spirits are not harmful; some are just lost with nowhere to go. The upcoming anime series, ‘Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari’, perfectly portrays how there are good spirits too.

The series is well–known within the supernatural genre and recently announced its anime adaptation. All that fans look forward to is a release date, rumors for which are now floating around.

A recent leak reveals that ‘Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari’ anime will be released on January 9, 2023.

The franchise had recently announced that the anime would debut in January with a spectacular trailer but didn’t specify a date. While this leak seems legit and is from a trusted source, we can’t confirm anything until an official notice comes.

Moreover, the manga has been featured in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine, so we can expect more information on this in the upcoming chapter. If not, then Bandai Namco will indeed confirm this in the next few days.

If you’re not familiar with the story yet, let me get you up to date.

The story is set in a world where spirits or Tsukumogami can cross into the human world and possess objects to gain a physical form. Most of these spirits are lost and bear no ill intentions, and the Saenome clan ensures they find their way back home.

However, the next head of this clan, Hyouma, doesn’t agree with this philosophy and always uses violence instead of peaceful conversations. Hyouma’s grandfather is worried that his grandson’s actions might cause a war between humans and spirits and sends him to live with the Nagatsuki family.

The Nagatsuki family is unique as it comprises six ‘friendly’ Tsukumogami who live with their master, a schoolgirl named Botan. These Tsukumogami don’t harm humans and are allowed to live in the human world after agreeing to certain conditions.

From here on begins the adventures of a guy who hates spirits and is forced to live with them.
